About Tamara

I’m a certified Jin Shin Do Acupressure practitioner and Medical Qigong practitioner, and have studied and practiced a variety of other healing modalities, including Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, massage, counseling, and channeling. Over time, these have evolved into a unified practice that supports the whole being in a compassionate, non-judgmental atmosphere.

Like many who work to support others’ healing process, my journey began as a way to heal myself.

After struggling for many years to cope with asthma and recurrent migraines through western medical approaches, I was frustrated and exhausted when I first began practicing qigong in 2002.  Within two months, I had reduced both my symptoms and my medication levels drastically, and experienced a new sense of well being and freedom.   A few months later, I no longer needed asthma medication at all.  The integration of the physical, emotional and spiritual self in this traditional practice was a profound revelation for me, especially as it showed unprecedented effectiveness in healing my chronic illness.

I continued practicing qigong, and was drawn to seek a deeper understanding of Taoist 5 Elements-based approaches, as a way of both deepening my own healing and sharing it with others.  In 2003-04, I completed a full-time certificate program in Jin Shin Do acupressure at the Canadian Acupressure College in Victoria, BC, with instructors including Arnold Porter, Bonnie Rush, and Bonnie Hardy. I’ve taken many additional courses in various aspects of acupressure and other energy-related health practices, including “Energetic Blocks to Healing” with Samantha Jennings, “Assessment through Meridian Palpation” and “In-depth Study of the Extraordinary Vessels” with Noel Taylor, and courses in Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, and EFT, as well as many years of yoga classes and practice.

I’ve now completed the Medical Qigong Practitioner program, begun in 2010 with instructor Noel Taylor and continued in 2011/2012 with Qigong Master Wendy Lang, as well as taking other qigong courses with Dr. Stephen Aung and Qigong Master Kenneth Cohen. I also studied Advanced Channeling with Wendy Lang and her partner Phillip Weber over multiple classes since 2012.

In April 2014 I gave birth to my amazing son, Akasha Shen Rafael Gott, who teaches me more about healing each day. Together with his father, my partner Devin Gott, we now make our home in the stunningly beautiful mountain town of Kaslo, in the West Kootenay region of BC.

I also teach and play music (voice and piano), write songs and poetry, and love to dance — spirit needs to shake its booty on a regular basis!
